Exmoor National Park is one of the most rural, welcoming and adventurous places that the southwest has to offer. Whether you want to embark on some of the best Exmoor walks around or whether you want to pop into some of the renowned local pubs, there really is something for everyone.

So, If you are thinking of visiting soon then here are our top five things to do in Exmoor!

1. Visit Tarr Steps

First of all we have Tarr Steps! Tucked away in the beautiful Exmoor National Park, and boasting a nature reserve like no other, Tarr Steps is an ancient rocky clapper bridge built across the River Barle. It’s surrounded by a wooded valley that houses a whole host of wildlife. Tarr Steps is well known for its natural beauty and it’s a great stop-off point for long hikes and short Exmoor walks alike.

2. Walk Valley of the Rocks

Valley of the Rocks is one of the best walks in Exmoor for those of you looking for a rural escape. It runs in parallel to North Devon’s coast and displays views across the countryside. The walk is relatively level and has tarmac paths to make it more accessible. Furthermore, the rock formations are forged in a mountainous pile that makes for quite the spectacular view. It’s the perfect place to walk the dog, take the family or simply to get some peace of mind.

3. Treat Yourself: Visit Exmoor’s Local Pubs

There is nothing like a long walk that leads to a pub. After exploring some of the sights around Exmoor, why not head into one of the many pubs and say hello to the locals? Dulverton, a small rural town in Exmoor, is home to two of the best watering holes around! But with over seventy-five places stocking our gin, you really are spoilt for choice.

Here are two of our favourites:

The award-winning Woods

Woods Bar and Restaurant is a bucket list must-have for those of you that like a nice tipple. Not least because it was voted National Wine Pub of the Year between 2011 and 2018! They stock some of the best wine around and their hospitable nature makes their pub a great place to relax after a day spent exploring.
